At MWC Barcelona 2024, ZTE WiFi added to its long list of achievements by breaking the world record for the fastest Home WiFi speed. Its WiFi 7 Home Gateway reached speeds of 14 gigabits per second, setting a new benchmark for download speeds.
Advancements in ZTE Wi-Fi 7
Breaking the speed record would not be possible without the technological advancements and features developed for ZTE’s flagship device, the Wi-Fi 7 Home Gateway LinkPro ZXHN F8748Q.
First, the independent eight-core neural processing unit (NPU) provides AI-powered task automation and other benefits that allow the device to reach higher download speeds than the previous device standard, the central processing unit (CPU).
Another major factor is the 20 Gbps hardware forwarding, which helps overcome pipeline stalls. Instead of the device sitting around and waiting for all previous operations to finish before beginning a new one, multiple processes can occur more quickly and simultaneously.
Its 4096-QAM is state-of-the-art for digital modulation, ensuring that more information than was previously possible can be transmitted in each symbol per bit.
The bandwidth frequency of 320 MegaHertz was also instrumental, as it combined with ZTE’s data slicing to create a much faster service by changing the size of the data packet, allowing more data to be transferred more efficiently.
The most important reason for the increased speeds is the introduction of the MLO technologies, first introduced in WiFi 7, thanks to the work done by ZTE and its partners in developing the standard.
Under WiFi 5 and 6, most routers supported both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands but users were limited to one band at a time and potentially the slower of the two. WiFi 7 not only introduced the 6 GHz band to complement the other two but also made it possible for information to be sent and received using multiple bands on the same device and connected simultaneously. These are just a few pieces that helped ZTE break the world record for fastest WiFi.
Global Deployment and Adoption of ZTE Wi-Fi 7
As part of ZTE’s overall mission to provide users around the globe with faster and smarter home networking capabilities, it has collaborated with operations worldwide, including Malaysia, Turkey, and many others.
These partnerships allow ZTE and the local provider to synergize their core strengths. The local company understands the wants and needs of its user base and the challenges local geography provides.
ZTE’s high standards, award-winning project management teams, and years of experience allow them to solve those issues while benefiting the country, the providers, and the users simultaneously. These two combine to be more than the sum of their parts and promote high-speed internet for all, regardless of location.
The company also hosted its Partner Recognition Conference, at which 16 countries were acknowledged and honored for their successful collaborations with the company.
Over 400 international partners were represented at the event, whose slogan was “Ultimate service for a win-win future,” reflecting the company’s policy of promoting policies and partnerships for mutual benefit.
How ZTE Wi-Fi is Shaping the Future of Home Networking
ZTE’s involvement in the area of WiFi is not a new development. As the chair of the WiFi 6 Physical Layer (PHY) Working Group, the company was instrumental in implementing standards that led to the innovations possible for the current generation. The company introduced 370 proposals for individual standards to the overall committee.
Speaking of which, for WiFi 7, the company’s MLO strategies and work reducing latency led to significant improvements over the previous generation. Without the years of work that went into developing this current standard, reaching 14 Gbps would not have been possible. The bandwidth slicing the company pioneered was a major contributor to the record being set.
As ZTE constantly looks to the future as well as the present, it has also already begun work on developing the future WiFi 8 standards, including WLAN improvements and other innovations, which it believes will represent another significant leap forward for wireless communication technology. No one can be certain when this future technology will be unveiled, but the experts are certain that ZTE will be at the forefront.
Although ZTE set the world record for the fastest home WiFi ever recorded, there is no evidence to believe that its work is finished. The company remains committed to pushing the boundaries of WiFi, but it may end up breaking its record in the future.
